Question: Are “weeds” considered as “waste” under lean concept?
Answer: Lean philosophy is based on reducing “time” in any activity (Improving the processing time or process lead time). Any factor/s that prolong an “activity ” or a “process” time, is considered as a waste. As weed is interfering with the “growth time “of a plant (or growth process), certainly it can be considered as a waste. By removing weed, the growth process can be escalated.
